About Mermaid Kitchen
The Mermaid Kitchen started in January of 2021 when the owner, Lisa, was working from home during the pandemic. She and her children, Asher and Hazel, decided to make bagels and sell them out of friend Brennan Nardi’s pizza kitchen at the Harmony Bar. When Asher went back to college and Hazel went back to high school Lisa decided to keep the project going and moved to FEED kitchens (a shared kitchen on the North Side of Madison) and set up a farmers market tent at the Northside Community Farmers Market. Two years later she had the opportunity to move to the Dane County Farmers Market on the Capitol Square so in 2023 she took a giant leap of faith and built a commercial bakery and began making bagels, bialys, labneh and cream cheeses. The Mermaid Kitchen continues to expand its offerings now making cookies and granola and selling Rusty Dog coffee on its online platform.
